Nice "eco"place, with a charming electricity-schedule from 17:30 to 11:00. Friendly staff, superb beach.
Restaurant is not as good as most in the vicinity.

Nice beach, rustic
Reservations mixed up, slept three to a bed. Dirty, large stains on pillows.

Retiro Maya was wonderful. We were upgraded to huge bungalow with panoramic ocean views. My son had his own room. The ocean sounded amazing. We would definitely stay here again.

It was on a beautiful beach, quiet for the most part, no children screaming, we slept with our door open and felt safe the whole week. The staff was friendly and unintrusive. Our room and bathroom were large compared to other similarily priced cabanas we have stayed in in Tulum. The breakfast was fresh and consistent and the location was perfect for us.
We liked everything about the hotel however they made us pay the full amount of the stay immediately after we booked in order to hold the reservation. The do not take credit cards and asked that we wire transfer the money to the hotel owner which felt unsafe to me in an international transaction. We used PayPal which ended up being easy and successful.

Great location right on the beach in Tulum. Authentic beach cabanas! Very quiet and relaxing. Great beach!

the thing we liked about this place was the tranquility and the closeness to the beach.
The staff is non existant, they are just minding their own business, not knowing that you might be a potential client. As to us they were not friendly of helpful in trying to move around Tulum. The breakfast is practically nothing, and we had the bad luck of having no kitchen so we couldn´t get any food or drinks during out stay.

While rather expensive, the location is wonderful. Our cabana was literally steps from the beach and with sea views. It was spacious (particularly the bathroom) and clean. The bed was comfortable although the mosquito net was a nuisance (could have been installed better). Really it is all about location, and this one is hard to beat.
Breakfast was useless. toast was more like warm bread. the plate of fruit was just ok. we asked for water which never came. Having to send half by bank transfer in advance is a bit annoying nowadays and the lady proprieter initially seemed dubious about our having paid half despite copies of transfer etc. Overall, though, it was a wonderfuol experience.

Relaxed atmosphere in a fabulous location. Step straight off your terraza & pad barefoot down the soft golden sand path to hit the beach. Heaven! The guys will bring you shrimp ceviche & a chilled corona to enjoy on your sun-lounger .. what more could you ask for! Lovely people, lovely place.

Wonderful people; nice accommodations; yoga classes, massages available.
All good. Although, as an early riser, availability of coffee at an earlier hour would be nice.
